A maiden winner by seven lengths here in January, the 3-year-old filly by INVASOR ran her record to two wins in four starts after taking this six-furlong allowance feature at Aqueduct. On the board in all her starts, EXPRESSION brushed with another coming out of the gate and was allowed to settle into her stride at the back of the pack. Picking up the pace late in the turn, she really didn’t gain much ground until late in the stretch when she split rivals near the eighth pole, continued to close on the leaders, then outgained them to the wire for a neck victory. EXPRESSION is out of the Gone West mare, Exotic West.

Holy InvaderHOLY INVADER, 3YO son of INVASOR, made the lead after a half mile and drew off through the stretch to dominate this one mile 70 yards Parx maiden by 13 lengths! This was the first start of the year and fourth lifetime start for the colt as previously he was second in two Delaware MSW races last fall. HOLY INVADER is the fIfth new winner for INVASOR in January, 2012.

A Kentucky homebred for owner Haras El Aquila, HOLY INVADER is out of Panamanian Filly Triple Crown winner and champion three-year-old filly Mariisima (Pan), by Jed Forest.

PhotonThe 3-year-old son of INVASOR, breaking from post one, sat in third behind the early speed until taking over at the top of the stretch and then raced to the wire to win this one mile Maiden event by 1 1/4 lengths. Finishing in the runner-up spot in his previous start at Gulfstream, PHOTON is the fourth new winner for INVASOR in 2012.

Out of the stakes-winning Bertrando mare, Lady Bertrando, PHOTON was bred in Kentucky by York LLC.

EXPRESSION Dominates Maiden Field at Aqueduct

ExpressionMaking only her second career start, the 3-year-old filly EXPRESSION shook loose and ran away from the field in this six-furlong Maiden race at Aqueduct. After bobbling at the break, the third new winner in the last five days for INVASOR was forwardly placed early on, vied for command coming out of the turn, then quickly took over and drew off to win by seven lengths.

Bred in Kentucky by Stone Farm and Joseph W. Sutton, EXPRESSION is out of the Gone West mare, Exotic West.

First Southern Hemisphere INVASOR Runner a Hit at Maronas

INVASOR’s first Southern Hemisphere starter CAYETANO P. hit the ground running and provided a gratifying result for Uruguayan fans when landing a conditional maiden event by a nose from Café Chapel (Uru) (Cafetin {Arg}) on theCayetano P. Jose Pedro Ramirez undercard on January 6 at Maronas National Racecourse in Montevideo.  The Kentucky-bred 3-year-old colt from the first crop of U.S. 2006 Horse of the Year and Champion Older Male, CAYETANO P. was purchased as a weanling for $12,500 at the 2009 Keeneland November breeding stock sale by Daniel Montero’s Haras Maria Isabel and Dr. Pablo Hernandez.  They campaigned INVASOR in Montevideo along with brothers Juan Luis and Luis Alberto Vio Bado before completing the sale to Shadwell Stable.  CAYETANO P., starting as the lone Northern Hemisphere 3-year-old in a 12-horse field, defeated his Southern Hemisphere elders in the 5 1/2 furlong heat, covering the distance in 1:05.94.  He is trained by Sebastian San Martin, the son of Anibal San Martin, INVASOR’s first trainer.

CAYETANO P. is out of the Awesome Again mare, Awesome Catch, whose dam is a full sister to Cat Thief.


PRINCESS KIHA Much the Best in Maiden Win

PRINCESS KIHA, a 3-year-old filly from the first crop of INVASOR, made easy work of the field in this one mile maiden event on the all-weather track at Golden Gate Fields. Well placed in 4th for the first part of the race, began to pick up the pace going into the turn, took the lead at the top of the stretch, then drew off without being asked to win by eight lengths. Out of the Mr. Greeley mare, Princess Belle, PRINCESS KIHA has now won or placed in all six career starts.

 

FIVE SIXTEEN misses by a neck in Aqueduct MSW

FIVE SIXTEEN, a 3-year-old gelding from the first crop of INVASOR, dueled for command along the backstretch, fell back slightly when steadied a bit in the final turn but closed the gap and loomed a bold threat in the final 70 yards to only miss by a neck to the heavy favorite.  Making just his third start, FIVE SIXTEEN was over four lengths in front of the next horse in this 1 1/8 miles Maiden Special Weight.

Bred in Kentucky by Machmer Hall, the 3YO is out of the Salt Lake mare, Third Street, and is owned by MeB Stables, trained by Dominick Schettino.

Making her second start on the turf in a one mile maiden event at Golden Gate, PRINCESS KIHA settled behind the pace and commenced her bid near the quarter pole going four wide, challenged for the lead but did not hold off the winner’s late surge. Now with two starts on all-weather and two on grass, the 2YO filly has placed in every time out and has been runner-up in her last three starts.  PRINCESS KIHA was bred in Kentucky from the Mr. Greeley mare Princess Belle.

CHEECHAKO, a 2-year-old filly by twice Horse of the Year INVASOR, made a sweeping move going five wide to miss by a neck in a $46,000 Maiden Special Weight at Churchill Downs. Making her just her second start, she was taken well back and finished willingly to just miss catching the winner, who was all out to maintain a diminishing advantage.  A homebred for Marylou Whitney Stables, she is out of the Boston Harbor mare, Bird Harbor.

With great determination, MIDNIGHT VADER, a 2-year-old colt by INVASOR, tracked the pacesetter over one mile in sloppy (sealed) going to gain victory in the final strides by 3/4 length at Mountaineer Racetrack.

Already twice stakes-placed, this ultra consistent juvenile has a win and five-times placed in eight starts, earning nearly $30,000 to date for his breeders in Ohio, Bridle Breeze Farm.

MIDNIGHT VADER, a 2-year-old colt by INVASOR, rallied to place in the $75,000 Juvenile S. going 1 1/16 miles at Thistledown on October 15.

Allowed to settle near the back of the pack early, MIDNIGHT VADER rallied in the stretch to close willingly. He was previously stakes-placed in the 5 1/2-furlong Hoover S. in only his third career start. A homebred for Bridle Breeze Farm, the colt is out of the Seattle Slew mare, Allou.

HIGH COMPRESSION, a 2-year-old filly by two-time Horse of the Year INVASOR, easily won this one mile and 70 yards Maiden race at Delaware Park on October 12.

Coming out of post six to chase the leader early on in the second position, HIGH COMPRESSION turned on the pressure to overtake the frontrunner with a little more than three furlongs to go and continued to widen the gap with every stride to win by the huge margin of 14 1/2 lengths. She is out of the Green Desert mare, Settling In.

WONDER OF IT ALL, a 2-year-old filly by Freshman sire INVASOR, won her second career start taking a one-mile Maiden race on the turf at Ellis Park on September 5.

Unhurried at the start, WONDER OF IT ALL settled into stride along the rail biding her time, swung wide entering the stretch, took aim on the leaders and quickened in the in final eighth to finish first by a head. She is out of the Maria's Mon mare, Darling Daughter.

PRINCESS KIHA, a 2-year-old filly by twice Horse of the Year INVASOR, recovered from an awkward start to place in a six-furlong Maiden race at Golden Gate on August 27. Making her racing debut and breaking from post position seven, she broke a little off balance, recovered to be unhurried to the turn, then came through along the rail to rally in the stretch.

Hip 323, a yearling filly from the second crop of Two-time Horse of the Year INVASOR, brought $160,000, on the second night of the two-night Fasig-Tipton New York Bred Yearlings Sale. This lovely chestnut filly who is a half-sister to GSW Z Fortune was the highest priced filly of the sale and third highest priced yearling overall of the sale.

Consigned by Paramount Sales, agent, this daughter of NINE-time Grade 1 winner INVASOR was purchased by Northshore Bloodstock Ltd., agent.

MIDNIGHT VADER, 2-year-old colt from the first crop of two-time Horse of the Year INVASOR, placed in the 5 1/2-furlong Hoover S. on July 10 at River Downs. Making only his third start, he was unhurried early and put in a good rally outside into the stretch to earn his first black type. He is a homebred of Bridle Breeze Farm and is out of the Seattle Slew mare, Allou.

His sire INVASOR won nine G1 races, including the Breeders' Cup Classic, Whitney and Pimlico Special Handicaps. In 2010, INVASOR was the third leading freshman sire by yearling average, with individuals bringing $350,000 at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga and $300,000, $275,000 and $225,000 at Keeneland September.
