After his first two wins came in wire-to-wire fashion, ENZAAL changed tactics this time to get the handicap win at Southwell. Racing on the all weather surface, the 4-year-old son of INVASOR tracked the leaders for the first mile of this 1 3/4-mile contest. He assumed command with three furlongs to go, then dug in to turn back two challenges and get the win by a head. Also a winner on turf, ENZAAL is out of the Danehill mare, Ekleel, a half-sister to three-time Group 1 winner, Aljabr. His second dam is the two-time Group 1 winner Sierra Madre.

INVASOR’s 5YO daughter EXPRESSION scored her seventh lifetime victory in the $100,000 Garland of Roses Stakes, going 6f. over a sloppy main track at Aqueduct. Braving the rainy conditions, EXPRESSION rallied from four wide on the turn, took over in the final eighth and prevailed by 3/4 length.  Twice stakes-placed at Belmont, EXPRESSION has won or placed in 16 of 25 starts earning nearly $365,000.  EXPRESSION was bred in Kentucky from the Gone West mare Exotic West.

WROOD ran her record to two wins and three placings in five career starts after closing in the final furlong to win at Lingfield. Going 1 1/4 miles on the all-weather track, the 3-year-old filly INVASOR raced in back until swinging out for the run home and caught the leader to finish in a dead heat for the win. WROOD started her career with two runner-up finishes before her maiden win, then finished third, just a 1/2-length back in her race before this win. Coming off back-to-back placings here last month, INVASION POINT went to the front at the break and stayed there to the finish to register a two-length maiden score going six furlongs at Belmont Park. Making her stakes debut after winning four of her last five starts, DISTORTED BEAUTY led from the start and just got nipped at the wire in her runner-up finish in Belmont’s $200,000 Pebbles S. Racing a mile on the turf, the 3-year-old filly by INVASOR broke well to quickly take the lead in this 11-horse field. DISTORTED BEAUTY had a three-length lead after six furlongs and maintained that margin into deep stretch, digging in with good determination to the wire beaten only 1/2 length. Following up her Saratoga allowance win in August, DISTORTED BEAUTY got clear in mid-stretch to take this one mile Belmont turf allowance by 1 3/4 lengths. The 3-year-old filly by INVASOR prompted the pace early after breaking from the outside post in a field of 11. As they hit the top of the stretch, DISTORTED BEAUTY moved up to challenge the frontrunner and soon pulled away to stay in front to the wire. INVADING HUMOR has now won four straight after taking Belmont’s John Hettinger S. by one length in her stakes debut. Going 1 1/8 miles on the inner turf, the 4-year-old filly by INVASOR prompted the pace early on trading front positions with her challenger on the backstretch. She eventually put that one away only to be confronted by another around the far turn, shook loose of that one only to be challenged again but inched away through the stretch for a well-earned victory. INVADING HUMOR now has back-to-back wins after her victory in this turf allowance at Saratoga. Never far back in this one mile event, the 4-year-old filly by INVASOR rallied to take the lead in upper stretch, then fended off the challenge of another to earn the win. She was coming off an allowance win at Belmont in mid July. Bred by Dr. James Randall McGlinn out of the Distorted Humor mare, Very Funny, INVADING HUMOR has two wins and a placing in three starts this year and has career earnings of $168,700.

Making his third start, MUZU defeated older horses in a one mile 70 yards maiden event over the main track at Fair Grounds.  Unsuccessful over the all-weather at Arlington in two previous starts, MUZU found his winning form with this switch in surface.  Starting from the outside post, the sophomore took the widest route and then closed strongly, taking the lead at the eighth pole and won by 1 1/2 lengths.  Making the fourth start of his career, MR PALADIN, had to weave through traffic to gain the runner-up position in this 6-furlong race at Parx. Starting at the back of the field MR PALADIN worked his way through the field gaining ground on the leaders with each furlong. While he was unable to catch the leader he did finish 8 1/2 lengths clear of the rest of the field. AUSUS scored her first graded stakes win with an impressive rally to take the $200,000 Grade 3 Modesty H. on the turf at Arlington Park. The 4-year-old homebred daughter of INVASOR tracked the leaders in the early going of this 1 3/16-mile test, swung three wide into the stretch and closed with authority to win going away by 2 1/4 lengths. Earlier this year, AUSUS had back-to-back placings in stakes at the Fair Grounds on turf and all-weather. She now has four wins and four placings in 13 starts with only one off-the-board finish and earnings of $258,983. AUSUS is out of the winning Fusaichi Pegasus mare, El Raabi. ARBAAH won for the second time in her last four starts when she went gate to wire to win this  1 5/8-mile handicap on the July Course at Newmarket. Taking the lead at the start against five males, the 3-year-old homebred filly by INVASOR separated herself from the field with 1/4-mile to go and was in command thereafter to win by five lengths. In her second start of the year, ARBAAH won going 1 1/4 miles on Lingfield’s all-weather course. In between those two wins she had two runner-up finishes. Stretching out for the first time to a 1 1/2 miles and only the second try on turf, HOLY INVADER gave a good account of himself finishing in the runner-up spot in this competitive allowance test. Breaking well to get the lead in this grueling test, the 4-year-old colt by INVASOR set the pace from the outset and maintained that lead going into the final turn. Challenged by another around the turn, he dueled with that one going into the stretch to finish second. This 3-year-old colt from the first crop of INVASOR won for the second time in three career starts when he dead-heated for first in this 1200-meter conditional race on dirt against elders at Maronas National Racecourse in Montevideo, Uruguay. In his career debut in early January, CAYETANO P. again defeated older horses breaking his maiden at 1100 meters. He was purchased as a weanling out of the 2009 Keeneland November breeding stock sale by Daniel Montero’s Haras Maria Isabel and Dr. Pablo Hernandez. They campaigned INVASOR in Montevideo along with brothers Juan Luis and Luis Alberto Vio Bado before completing the sale to Shadwell Stable. CAYETANO P. is trained by Sebastian San Martin, the son of Anibal San Martin, INVASOR’s first trainer.

Reserved just off the pace in third after breaking from post two, JACKPOT JOSIE angled four wide for the stretch drive, overtook the leader inside the sixteenth pole and went on to win by 1 1/4 lengths. Following her maiden score here back in mid-June, this 3-year-old filly by INVASOR now has back-to-back victories after her two-length win in a six-furlong dirt event at Delaware. Racing close up early never more than two lengths back, GAGNE challenged the leader at the top of the stretch, took over with a furlong to go and pulled away at the end for her margin of victory. Earlier in the year, she had placed in Maiden Special Weights at Pimlico and Laurel.

Ausus is runner-up in Arlington MSWMaking her third start following a close runner-up finish in a Maiden Special Weight here in June, this 3-year-old filly by INVASOR rallied down the stretch to win this six-furlong Maiden Special Weight by 3 1/4 lengths. Making just her second career start, this 3-year-filly from the first crop of INVASOR battled to the wire in this six-furlong Maiden Special Weight on Arlington’s all weather track. Breaking alertly from post four, the homebred AUSUS disputed the pace from the start between foes, took a short lead nearing upper stretch and put in a prolonged drive to the finish, but was just overtaken in the final strides, less than a length back. It was nearly seven lengths back to the third-place finisher.

Hip 66, a colt from the second crop of INVASOR, brought a final bid of $170,000 from Steven W. Young, agent, at the opening session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. Consigned by Eisaman Equine, agent, this juvenile out of the End Sweep mare, Miss Winning Sweep, worked an eighth in :10 1/5 last Wednesday, the second fastest time of the day for that distance. Said Barry Eisaman when asked about his colt, “He is fast..and a big strong colt who looks like he will go two turns.” Added Shari Eisaman, “He is a good mover and looks like a Derby horse.”

 

3YO FORTIN a Runaway Winner by 13 1/2 in MSW at Calder

In his first career start, FORTIN closed through the stretch to just miss in a one mile Maiden Special Weight at Gulfstream Park in mid-March. In his second start, this 3-year-old colt by INVASOR was all but eliminated when he was knocked sideways coming out of the gate and finished fourth at the same track and distance as his debut. But in his third start and as the heavy favorite at 1-9, FORTIN set the pace from the start, was five lengths in front at the top of the stretch and continued to draw off, winning by an overwhelming margin of 13 1/2 lengths in a one mile Maiden Special Weight on Calder’s main track. A maiden winner going a mile back in January at Gulfstream Park, this 3-year-old son of INVASOR shortened up to six furlongs to take this allowance race at Aqueduct. A troubled start put him at the back of the pack early, but PHOTON began to pick up the pace once he straightened out for home, and put in a strong rally inside the sixteenth pole to beat the frontrunner. In between his two wins this year, he had runner-up finishes at Gulfstream.

PRINCESS KIHA drew clear in the stretch to notch her second win taking this one mile event at Turf Paradise. After placing in his first two starts of the year here in Maiden Special Weights, his third start proved to be his best as he prevailed in this 1 1/8-mile Maiden Special Weight on the inner dirt track at Aqueduct. Tracking the front three along the rail for the first part of the race, the 3-year-old by INVASOR began his prolonged drive going into the final turn, swung out three wide nearing the top of the stretch, split rivals to take the lead at the eighth pole and out dueled the heavy favorite for the win.

A maiden winner by seven lengths here in January, the 3-year-old filly by INVASOR ran her record to two wins in four starts after taking this six-furlong allowance feature at Aqueduct. On the board in all her starts, EXPRESSION brushed with another coming out of the gate and was allowed to settle into her stride at the back of the pack. Picking up the pace late in the turn, she really didn’t gain much ground until late in the stretch when she split rivals near the eighth pole, continued to close on the leaders, then outgained them to the wire for a neck victory. EXPRESSION is out of the Gone West mare, Exotic West.

PhotonThe 3-year-old son of INVASOR, breaking from post one, sat in third behind the early speed until taking over at the top of the stretch and then raced to the wire to win this one mile Maiden event by 1 1/4 lengths. Finishing in the runner-up spot in his previous start at Gulfstream, PHOTON is the fourth new winner for INVASOR in 2012.

ExpressionMaking only her second career start, the 3-year-old filly EXPRESSION shook loose and ran away from the field in this six-furlong Maiden race at Aqueduct. After bobbling at the break, the third new winner in the last five days for INVASOR was forwardly placed early on, vied for command coming out of the turn, then quickly took over and drew off to win by seven lengths.

First Southern Hemisphere INVASOR Runner a Hit at Maronas

INVASOR’s first Southern Hemisphere starter CAYETANO P. hit the ground running and provided a gratifying result for Uruguayan fans when landing a conditional maiden event by a nose from Café Chapel (Uru) (Cafetin {Arg}) on theCayetano P. Jose Pedro Ramirez undercard on January 6 at Maronas National Racecourse in Montevideo.  The Kentucky-bred 3-year-old colt from the first crop of U.S. 2006 Horse of the Year and Champion Older Male, CAYETANO P. was purchased as a weanling for $12,500 at the 2009 Keeneland November breeding stock sale by Daniel Montero’s Haras Maria Isabel and Dr. Pablo Hernandez.  They campaigned INVASOR in Montevideo along with brothers Juan Luis and Luis Alberto Vio Bado before completing the sale to Shadwell Stable.  CAYETANO P., starting as the lone Northern Hemisphere 3-year-old in a 12-horse field, defeated his Southern Hemisphere elders in the 5 1/2 furlong heat, covering the distance in 1:05.94.  He is trained by Sebastian San Martin, the son of Anibal San Martin, INVASOR’s first trainer.

CAYETANO P. is out of the Awesome Again mare, Awesome Catch, whose dam is a full sister to Cat Thief.

PRINCESS KIHA, a 3-year-old filly from the first crop of INVASOR, made easy work of the field in this one mile maiden event on the all-weather track at Golden Gate Fields. FIVE SIXTEEN, a 3-year-old gelding from the first crop of INVASOR, dueled for command along the backstretch, fell back slightly when steadied a bit in the final turn but closed the gap and loomed a bold threat in the final 70 yards to only miss by a neck to the heavy favorite.  Making just his third start, FIVE SIXTEEN was over four lengths in front of the next horse in this 1 1/8 miles Maiden Special Weight.

Making her second start on the turf in a one mile maiden event at Golden Gate, PRINCESS KIHA settled behind the pace and commenced her bid near the quarter pole going four wide, challenged for the lead but did not hold off the winner’s late surge. HIGH COMPRESSION, a 2-year-old filly by two-time Horse of the Year INVASOR, easily won this one mile and 70 yards Maiden race at Delaware Park on October 12.

Coming out of post six to chase the leader early on in the second position, HIGH COMPRESSION turned on the pressure to overtake the frontrunner with a little more than three furlongs to go and continued to widen the gap with every stride to win by the huge margin of 14 1/2 lengths. This lovely chestnut filly who is a half-sister to GSW Z Fortune was the highest priced filly of the sale and third highest priced yearling overall of the sale.

Consigned by Paramount Sales, agent, this daughter of NINE-time Grade 1 winner INVASOR was purchased by Northshore Bloodstock Ltd., agent.

MIDNIGHT VADER, 2-year-old colt from the first crop of two-time Horse of the Year INVASOR, placed in the 5 1/2-furlong Hoover S. on July 10 at River Downs. Making only his third start, he was unhurried early and put in a good rally outside into the stretch to earn his first black type. He is a homebred of Bridle Breeze Farm and is out of the Seattle Slew mare, Allou.

His sire INVASOR won nine G1 races, including the Breeders' Cup Classic, Whitney and Pimlico Special Handicaps. In 2010, INVASOR was the third leading freshman sire by yearling average, with individuals bringing $350,000 at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga and $300,000, $275,000 and $225,000 at Keeneland September.
