PRIDE OF BAGHDAD (02 f, o/o Hidle, by Unbridled) closed the year for her sire SAHM with a nice handicap win at Nad al Sheba in Dubai. She drew the 13 hole in the 14-horse field, but broke well and stalked the pace. Going a mile and 110 yards, the 4-year-old filly took command three furlongs from home and sprinted well clear. She held on over a closer to notch a half-length triumph. PRIDE OF BAGHDAD was bred in the U.S. by Samuel A. Houston. She races for Mohammed Al Jamali and is trained by A. Manuel.

Coming back from an eight-month layoff, LOVE HANDLES (03 f, o/o Hip Huggers, by Magloire) handily captured an allowance at Hawthorne. The sophomore filly tackled her elders going 1 1/16 miles in the allowance. She broke last and trailed the field for much of the first half. She began rallying up the rail to hit the front in the stretch. The daughter of SAHM held off a flying closer to register a half-length victory. Bred in Illinois by Mr. and Mrs. Harvey L. Vanier, LOVE HANDLES is trained by Brian Williamson. She races for the partnership of Cartwright Thoroughbreds IV and Nancy C. Vanier.

GETCHA SAHM (03 f, o/o Blooming, by Navarone) notched a hard-fought victory in a maiden race at Turfway Park. She attended the pace in the one mile maiden and challenged for the lead herself after the half. She fought back first one rival, than another, and finally another to win by a head. The sophomore daughter of SAHM was bred in Kentucky and races as a homebred for Rick E. Timmons. She is trained by Geoff Mulcahy.

Two months ago, BELLAGAR (04 f, o/o Dorei, by Theatrical (IRE)) took a maiden special weight at Hoosier Park and today she won again, this time at Turfway Park. With jockey phenom Julien Leparoux aboard, BELLAGAR was always within striking distance in the six furlong race. The 2-year-old filly angled out in the stretch and was up in time for a length triumph over the all weather track. Cindy Clark bred the daughter of SAHM in Kentucky. BELLAGAR races for Alison Cain and is trained by Joe Cain.

HEAVENLY SAHM (04 c, o/o Miss Colors, by Missionary Ridge (GB)) caught the pacesetter at the very last moment for a thrilling win in a maiden race at Philadelphia Park. The juvenile colt raced mid-pack in the 6 1/2 furlong maiden and set his sights on the leader in the stretch. He closed resolutely in the final strides to win by a head on the wire as the favorite. Bred in Kentucky by Betty Chandler, HEAVENLY SAHM is owned by William Hopkins and is trained by Jayne Vaders.

FALCON IN FLIGHT (01 c, o/o Booklore, by Snow Chief) came home by daylight in a 1 1/16 mile race at Beulah Park. The Equibase chart described his trip best, "FALCON IN FLIGHT stalked the pace racing off the inside, made a bid approaching the final turn, dueled outside of the runner-up around the bend, drew clear in the final furlong under urging." A 2 3/4 length victor, the son of SAHM was winning for the sixth time in his career and was the heavy favorite. Bred in Pennsylvania by Gary Farrar and Karen Farrar, FALCON IN FLIGHT is raced by Louis D. O'Brien and is trained by Ralph Martinez. He was a $27,000 yearling at the 2002 Keeneland September sale.

After four stakes performances this summer, Sweet Breanna (03 f, o/o Sweet Roberta, by Roberto) stepped into allowance company to win as the favorite. Going 1 1/16 miles at Woodbine, the sophomore filly sat comfortably in fifth position for the first three-quarters of a mile. She closed on the turn, made her bid while four-wide, and drove clear for a length triumph in the rain. Bred in Ontario by Dr. John Brown's Spring Farm, SWEET BREANNA races in the colors of Beclawat Stable and is trained by Steve Attard.

PSALMS OF PRAISE (03 f, o/o Sajjaya, by Blushing Groom (FR)) and LETA MAE (04 f, o/o Ms Fort Madison, by Williamstown) both won allowances for their sire SAHM on the day.
PSALMS OF PRAISE was first, taking down an allowance at Calder Race Course. The sophomore filly was winning for the seventh time at the Florida track. She rated just off the pace in the five furlong turf allowance, eased outside of the frontrunners in the stretch, and got up just in time for a three-quarter length win as the favorite. She got the distance in a smoking :55 4/5. Bred in Kentucky by CHO LLC, PSALMS OF PRAISE campaigns for David W. Hutson and is trained by Martin D. Wolfson.
Juvenile filly LETA MAE, a maiden special weight winner in September, was the second winner of the day for SAHM. She made an effortless transition to allowance company at Fair Grounds. The 2-year-old broke well in the six furlong allowance and immediately dueled for the lead. She shook off her challenger to go clear and remained in the lead all the way to the wire, winning by two lengths. Bred in Louisiana, LETA MAE races as a homebred for Pink Mitten Inc. and is trained by Glenn Delahoussaye.

SAHMTARIAT (04 c, o/o Julie's Dream, by Sky Classic) broke his maiden handily at Portland Meadows. The juvenile colt was the favorite in the six furlong maiden. He raced near the back of the pack, saving ground over the sloppy track. He took command in the stretch to win by 1 3/4 lengths and notch his first career victory in the rain. Bred in Oregon by Darlene Knight, SAHMTARIAT races for Allen Floyd and Jonathan Nance. The latter also serves as his trainer.

RED CONTACT (01 c, o/o Basma, by Grey Dawn II) registered the third handicap victory of his career at Southwell in Great Britain. Going one mile over the all weather track, the son of SAHM set all the pace. He drove to the wire to win by five widening lengths. He had finished second at Wolverhampton just four days ago after taking nearly four months off. Bred in Kentucky by Shadwell Farm LLC, RED CONTACT campaigns for Miss Sini Lehkonen and is conditioned by A. Dickman. He is a $17,000 Keeneland September yearling sales graduate.

SO SAHM (03 f, o/o Chill Out Baby, by Clever Trick) broke her maiden handily at Penn National. The 3-year-old filly was always close in the six furlong maiden and rallied in the stretch. She beat the field of 11, which included older fillies and mares, by three lengths. Bred in New York by Mr. and Mrs. Jose Samaniego, SO SAHM campaigns for Paulette French. She is trained by Murray L. Rojas.

SAHM YEARLING FILLY BRINGS $267,000 AT GOFFS IRELAND
A yearling filly by Shadwell sire SAHM brought €210,000, or the U.S. equivalent of approximately $267,000, at the recent Goffs Million Sale, held September 26-28 in Ireland. The bay filly is out of the Shadeed mare Nadwah, a group winner of the Queen Mary S.-G3, and was bred in the U.S. Croom House Stud consigned the filly, whose price was more than double the sale average of €115,996. K. Prendergast was her buyer.
SAHM is a Mr. Prospector stallion out of the champion Sadler's Wells mare Salsabil. A record-setting graded stakes winner, SAHM has 11% stakes horses with just his fourth crop of 2-year-olds racing now. His five stakes winners and 10 stakes horses include multiple group winner Mustameet.

UPGRADEDTOCRITICAL (04 c, o/o Open Sea, by Cabrini Green) bested a field of 10 by five resounding lengths to break her maiden. She went to the post in the Philadelphia Park race as the heavy favorite. The 2-year-old filly rated just off the pace, made her bid on the turn, and took command at the top of the stretch. She drew away by five to notch her first lifetime victory in the seven furlong maiden. Bred in Ontario by Hal E. Snowden Jr., UPGRADEDTOCRITICAL races as a homebred and is trained by Edward T. Allard.

Sweet Breanna (03 f, o/o Sweet Roberta, by Roberto) added the fourth blacktype performance to her record since mid-June, placing in the $134,400 La Lorgnette S. at Woodbine. The 3-year-old filly stalked the leaders in the 1 1/16 mile stakes and just missed second. She placed third as the favorite. Bred in Ontario by Dr. John Brown's Spring Farm, SWEET BREANNA is owned by Beclawat Stable and is trained by Steve Attard. She was a $30,000 (Canadian) yearling purchase at the 2004 Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society sale.

Shadwell sire SAHM had two nice results on the racetrack today: another stakes performance for a proven 3-year-old filly and an impressive maiden special weight win for a promising juvenile.
For the third time in less than three months, Sweet Breanna (03 f, o/o Sweet Roberta, by Roberto) added blacktype to her burgeoning resume. In the $125,800 Algoma S. at Woodbine, the sophomore filly stalked three wide throughout most of the 1 1/16 mile stakes on the brand new all weather track. She closed the gap on the leaders and although no one could catch the frontrunner, she rallied furiously to secure the second spot. Bred in Ontario by Dr. John Brown's Spring Farm, SWEET BREANNA campaigns for Beclawat Stable and is trained by Steve Attard.
LETA MAE (04 f, o/o Ms Fort Madison, by Williamstown) captured a maiden special weight at Evangeline Downs. The 2-year-old filly broke from the 10th hole, but quickly sprinted clear. She led throughout the 5 1/2 furlong maiden and widened her lead in the stretch to come home a 4 1/2 length winner as the favorite. The ease of her victory made the win look like a simple summer stroll through the park. Bred in Louisiana, LETA MAE races as a homebred for Pink Mitten Inc. and is trained by Glenn Delahoussaye.

Sahm Sweetheart (03 f, o/o Plana Dance, by Northern Flagship) followed up a stakes placing in late July with an allowance win at Canterbury Park. She trailed the eight-horse field for the first half of the one mile turf allowance and split foes coming into the stretch. She was bumped on both sides but wasn't daunted, rallying gamely to a three-quarter length victory. The sophomore filly got the distance in a nice 1:36 4/5 and was the third winner in the last three days for her sire. Bred in Minnesota, SAHM SWEETHEART races as a homebred for Robert D. Colvin and is trained by McLean Robertson.

STAR OF SAHM (01 f, o/o Smile With a Smile, by Smile) tallied a victory in a one mile and 70 yard race at Monmouth Park. She raced right on the heels of the leader on the rail for much of the contest and eased to the outside on the final turn. The 5-year-old bay mare pulled on even terms with the frontrunner and dueled with that one down the stretch. She dug in and edged clear, winning by 1 1/4 lengths to notch her fourth lifetime win. WRENCH (03 c, o/o My Gifted Gal, by Monetary Gift) repelled one challenger after another to turn a frontrunning performance into a victory at Great Lakes Downs. The gray or roan son of SAHM set all the pace in the six furlong maiden and was clear by three lengths at one point, then shortened to a head the best. He opened up again by a length before holding off a closer for a head win. The Michigan-bred is trained by his breeder and owner, Denis Cluley.

PSALMS OF PRAISE (03 f, o/o Sajjaya, by Blushing Groom (FR)) won for the fourth time in seven weeks, capturing an allowance at Calder Race Course. Over a sloppy track in showery weather, the sophomore filly bided her time off the pace before making a wide bid for the stretch run. In spite of drifting out late, she got up just in time in the 5 1/2 furlong allowance to win by a neck as the favorite. The victory marked her sixth lifetime win. Three-time winner River City Rebel (03 c, o/o Dancing Marrea, by Lord At War (ARG)) added some blacktype to his resume when he finished third in Saratoga's Equalize S. He was bumped at the start of the one mile turf stakes and raced at the back of the pack until the top of the stretch. The 3-year-old colt then rallied past most of the field to secure a placing and become SAHM's 10th stakes horse. Bred in Kentucky by James A. Hill, RIVER CITY REBEL races for Leonard M. Friedman, Wachtel Stable, and Brous Stable. He is trained by Michael Hushion.

Twelve days ago, BY MY SAHM (03 c, o/o Biolage, by Hurricane Ed) won a maiden special weight at River Downs. Today, he was back to add an allowance at the same track. The gray or roan sophomore dallied at the back of the field for the early stages of the one mile and 70 yard allowance. He began his rally on the far turn and drew clear to win by 3 3/4 lengths as the favorite. This gives the Ohio-bred two consecutive wins. John J. Juvenile colt Irish Dreamer (04 c, o/o Sister Elizabeth, by Irish River (FR)) broke his maiden at Arlington Park a month ago and came back in Arlington's Spectacular Bid S. to post a runner-up finish and earn his first blacktype. He pressed the pace throughout the seven furlong stakes and got bumped hard in upper stretch. He held on to secure second in the $40,000 race and became SAHM's ninth stakes horse in the process. The Chris Richard trainee was bred by Pandora Farms LLC in Kentucky. IRISH DREAMER is a Kalarikkal K. and Vilasini D. Jayaraman colorbearer.

NERINX (02 c, o/o Charmie Carmie, by Lyphard) notched his third win of the year, capturing a seven furlong race at Saratoga as the favorite. He broke on top, but settled in just behind the pacesetters before rallying three wide leaving the turn. He surged to the front and held off a closer to win by three-quarters of a length. Bred in Kentucky by Chris Wright and Stratford Place Stud, NERINX is owned by Robert S. Dibona. The former Keeneland September yearling, who now has four wins from Florida to New York to his credit, is trained by Bobby Dibona.

The remarkable MUSTAMEET (01 c, o/o Hamasah, by Irish River (FR)) struck again, capturing the United Arab Emirates Racing and Equestrian Federation Royal Whip Stakes-G2 at the Curragh in Ireland. The G2 event was contested at 1 1/4 miles over good to firm ground and the son of SAHM won by three lengths. The Racing Post gives an account of the race, "MUSTAMEET has been in terrific form this season and had struck four times at stakes level, including when landing the International S.-G3 here last month. The 5-year-old, who relishes quick ground, had his stamina to prove over this trip but provided conclusive evidence that (10 furlongs) is within his range. Settled just off the front pair, he was traveling strongly with two furlongs to run. Once switched out to deliver his challenge, he picked up well and soon put the result beyond doubt. The Irish Champion S.-G1 will be next for MUSTAMEET, who deserves a shot at the highest level."
The Royal Whip was MUSTAMEET's 11th stakes win or placing (seventh in a group race). Bred in Kentucky by Shadwell Farm LLC, the Kevin Prendergast trainee races in the colors of Hamdan al Maktoum. He has now won four in a row, all since June.

BY MY SAHM (03 c, o/o Biolage, by Hurricane Ed) was the third winner for SAHM in just two days when he notched a maiden special weight at River Downs. He raced midpack in the six furlong maiden before circling the field at the quarter pole. The 3-year-old won as he pleased, crossing the wire 2 3/4 lengths the best as the favorite. Bred by John J. Shadwell sire SAHM enjoyed two winners in the midwest in one afternoon. The first was at Thistledown near North Randall, Ohio, and the second was at Fairmount Park, near Collinsville, Illinois.
The Thistledown victor, CURTIS LOWE (03 c, o/o Jump Raise, by I'll Raise You One), captured a six furlong maiden sprint. He bounded out of the gate to stalk the pace and circled the leaders while three wide. The sophomore drove to the wire, coming out the winner of a long stretch duel by three-quarters of a length. Bred in Ohio, CURTIS LOWE races as a homebred for Team Mumaw and James Oleski. He is trained by Benjamin Mumaw.
SAHM's winner at Fairmount Park was SOME DAWN (03 f, o/o Light by Dawn, by Vigors), who had broken her maiden earlier this summer. The 3-year-old filly broke on top and set all the pace in a 5 1/2 furlong sprint. In spite of starting out on the rail, drifting out, and then lugging in, she held on to win over the field of nine by a head. The gray or roan filly was bred in Illinois by Robert Fricke. SOME DAWN is both owned and trained by Dawn Martin.

In the 5 1/2 furlong allowance on the dirt, the sophomore filly found herself in tight quarters early and trailed the field. She let the leaders go early in the one mile and 70 yard dirt stakes at Canterbury Park and was content to track on the inside. Although she never caught the frontrunner, she rallied on the rail to secure the stakes placing. The Minnesota-bred filly is a homebred for Robert D. Colvin and is trained by Maclean Robertson.

GLASNEVIN (01 f, o/o Renewable, by Affirmed) captured an allowance at Louisiana Downs in a determined effort. Going one mile and 70 yards on the main track, the 5-year-old broke last in the nine-horse field. She took her time at the back of the pack, commencing her rally on the final turn while on the outside. She brushed with a rival in the stretch, but gamely fought on to win by a head. Bred in Kentucky by James M. Biller, the six-time winner campaigns for Jan Haynes and is trained by Cole Norman.

KERRY FAIR (02 f, o/o Ms. Chatfield, by Hasty Flyer) sprinted five furlongs at Woodbine to beat a field of 10 by a length. She hustled to the lead leaving the gate and never relinquished it, although she was stoutly challenged on the turn and into the stretch. It was her second victory after breaking her maiden at the Canadian track three months ago. An Ohio-bred for A.T.D. Stables and Melinda Platt, KERRY FAIR is owned by Laurie Silvera and Robert Oppedisano. Silvera also serves as the filly's trainer.
Three weeks after her last win, JUST ONE BID (01 f, o/o Kiwi House, by Housebuster) was back for another victory at River Downs. This time she sprinted six furlongs, dueling for the lead early and setting all the pace. She drew clear at the top of the stretch and held off a closer to win by three-quarters of a length. The win over a sloppy track as the favorite marked her seventh lifetime visit to the winner's circle. Bred in Kentucky by Kenneth L. Ramsey and Sarah K. Ramsey, JUST ONE BID is a Spade Stable colorbearer. The 5-year-old mare is trained by David E. Pate.

Going 5 1/2 furlongs, the juvenile set all the pace and was never threatened. He won by two lengths in a facile effort. Just nine days after her last win, PSALMS OF PRAISE (03 f, o/o Sajjaya, by Blushing Groom (FR)) came back in an allowance at Calder Race Course. She was well placed and saved ground just off the pace, angling outside the leaders in the stretch. She powered by just in time for a 1 1/4 length triumph. The daughter of SAHM got the five furlongs on the turf in a scintillating :57. The Milton Wolfson-trained filly was bred in Kentucky by CHO LLC. A one-time $58,000 OBS August yearling, PSALMS OF PRAISE campaigns in the colors of N. T. S. Stable Inc. It was her fourth lifetime win at Calder.

MUSTAMEET (01 c, o/o Hamasah, by Irish River (FR)) just keeps getting better and better, today adding the Ladbrokes.com International Stakes-G3 at the Curragh to his ever-growing (and glowing) resume. Even the Racing Post was complimentary of his performance and his career, "MUSTAMEET is enjoying a terrific campaign, and made it four wins from six starts this season with a game performance under a well-judged ride. (Jockey) Declan McDonogh stole a couple of vital lengths on his main rival when going for home over one furlong out, and it provided sufficient cushion to secure a second Group 3 success of an increasingly worthy career. Five of his six wins have come over one mile, and he has all the attributes that one would look for in a miler at this level." MUSTAMEET won the one mile group event by a head. JUST ONE BID (01 f, o/o Kiwi House, by Housebuster) won for the sixth time in her career, coming home three lengths the best in a 5 1/2 furlong sprint at River Downs. The 5-year-old mare set all the pace, at one time leading by as many as six lengths while off the rail. She was never seriously threatened and was ridden out for the victory. The remarkable MUSTAMEET (01 c, o/o Hamasah, by Irish River (FR)) added yet another stakes win to his burgeoning record with a score in the Netjets Celebration S., a listed stakes contested at the Curragh in Ireland on Irish Derby-G1 day. The stakes was run over a mile on a good course and MUSTAMEET galloped home a four length victor in 1:36 1/5. The next six finishers were each a neck apart. The Racing Post said, "The stylish winner...has developed into one of the most dependable performers at this level." The Kevin Prendergast-trained colt was bred in Kentucky by Shadwell Farm LLC. MUSTAMEET, a G3 winner who now has four stakes wins and another five stakes placings, is a colorbearer for Hamdan al Maktoum. He is also the third winner and second stakes horse for SAHM in the last 24 hours.
Less than a month after her runner-up finish in the Woodbine Oaks, Sweet Breanna (03 f, o/o Sweet Roberta, by Roberto) put in another stellar performance to finish second in the $250,000 Labatt Bison City S. The Fort Erie feature at 1 1/16 miles on the dirt unfolded much like the Woodbine Oaks for SWEET BREANNA. She was always in striking position and made a huge rally, but fell just short of the eventual winner. The 3-year-old daughter of SAHM races for Beclawat Stable. She was bred in Ontario by Dr. John Brown's Spring Farm and she is trained by Steve Attard.
MONFILS MONFILS (02 c, o/o Sorpresa, by Pleasant Tap) took on a handicap field of 18 at Maisons-Laffitte in France and came home with his first victory in just three lifetime starts, all in the last six weeks. The win was at 1 5/16 miles and his official margin of victory was a neck over the good ground. Bred in the U.S. by Douglas McIntyre, MONFILS MONFILS races as a homebred. He is trained by Rod Collet. He is the 50th individual winner for SAHM.

Making her second start of 2006, MABADI (03 f, o/o Barakat (GB), by Bustino (GB)) responded with a length victory in a maiden race at Chester in Great Britain. The 3-year-old filly chased the early leader throughout much of the 1 5/16 mile maiden and took command a furlong from home. The daughter of SAHM is her sire's 49th individual winner. Owned by Hamdan al Maktoum, MABADI was bred in Kentucky by Shadwell Farm LLC. She is trained by B. W. Hills.

Going seven furlongs, the bay 4-year-old broke on top but was content to rate in the second position. He had to go four wide but edged clear and held on to win by a neck. Sweet Breanna (03 f, o/o Sweet Roberta, by Roberto) parlayed a 5 1/4 length allowance win at Woodbine last month into a rousing second in the $500,000 Labattt Woodbine Oaks at the same track. She forced the early pace of the 1 1/8 mile Oaks and dueled between horses on the far turn and into the stretch. She clearly secured second in the prestigious Canadian event. Bred in Ontario by Dr. John Brown's Spring Farm, SWEET BREANNA is owned by Beclawat Stable and is trained by Steve Attard. She was a $30,000 (Canadian) yearling purchase at the 2004 Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society sale. The 3-year-old filly is the seventh stakes horse for her young sire SAHM.

Stakes warrior MUSTAMEET (01 c, o/o Hamasah, by Irish River (FR)) added the eighth blacktype win or placing to his resume when he crossed the wire the winner in the Glencairn S. at Leopardstown in Ireland. He was the runner-up in the same race a year ago, but has been on fire in 2006, having now captured two listed stakes and a G3 placing from four starts. In this edition of the Glencairn, the Racing Post gives an account of his trip: "In a race run at a decent pace, the winner went second into the straight before beginning his challenge, which carried him to the front well inside the final furlong. 'He likes it here and he settled and quickened well. He goes on all types of ground, but good seems to suit him best," (trainer Kevin) Prendergast said." GUYS NITE OUT (03 c, o/o Polish Socialite, by Polish Navy) nailed his fourth win in eight weeks and second allowance victory in 15 days at Charles Town. This time going seven furlongs (his previous allowance was at 1 1/8 miles), the son of SAHM was part of a bumping incident at the start and spent the whole race alternating for the lead with a rival who actually crossed the wire first. That rival, however, lugged in twice in the stretch and bothered GUYS NITE OUT, resulting in an inquiry and a disqualification. GUYS NITE OUT was made the official winner. Bred in Kentucky by Helmore Breeding General Part 1, the sophomore win machine had been sold since his last victory and now races in the colors of Harry C. and Tom O. Meyerhoff LLC. Grover Delp is now his trainer.

Just two weeks after placing second in the Gladness S.-G3 in his 5-year-old debut, MUSTAMEET (01 c, o/o Hamasah, by Irish River (FR)) captured the listed Heritage S. at Leopardstown in Ireland. In the one mile stakes over good to firm ground, MUSTAMEET was never far off the pace and led a furlong from home. He had to fight to keep his advantage, but won by a strong half-length. GUYS NITE OUT (03 c, o/o Polish Socialite, by Polish Navy) registered his second victory in just over two weeks when he decimated a field at Charles Town by 11 1/4 lengths. His earlier win had been by 8 1/4 lengths. In this 6 1/2 furlong sprint over a muddy track, GUYS NITE OUT fought for the early lead, drew off around the turn, and was ridden out through the stretch. The sophomore colt chased the pace in the 1 1/16 mile dirt maiden and moved up along the fence in the second turn. When a hole never opened up and he couldn't find room to extend himself, he moved out wide in deep stretch and surged to the lead with seconds to spare. His final margin of victory was a half length. Defying his 15-1 odds, GOLAZO (01 c, o/o Atuf, by Danzig) won at Bay Meadows by 3 1/2 resounding lengths. He broke slowly, but rushed up to stalk the early leaders while on the rail in the one mile dirt race. He made his move coming into the stretch and quickly accelerated to a daylight advantage which he held to the wire.
