CHILEAN-BRED HOST IS THE TOAST OF SHADWELL TURF
MILE-G1
The richest race of the Keeneland fall meet, the Shadwell Turf
Mile-G1, gave horsemen and fans a thrilling rendition in 2005. All
of the favorites for the G1 event finished off the board while
longshots dominated. Chilean-bred Host, at 10-1, rallied from the
back of the pack to win by a neck over Vanderlin, at 27-1. Gulch
Approval was third at 28-1 and Remind, a 27-1 shot, was fourth.
he winner is owned by Melnyk Racing Stables, is trained by Todd

wide and out of traffic before devouring ground and surging down the
stretch.
"When I asked him to run, he just exploded," said Bejarano.
Host, a champion in his native country and a multiple graded
stakes winner in the U.S., got the mile in 1:37 3/5 for his eighth
career victory in 14 starts. The Shadwell was his first start in

SHADWELL TURF MILE-G1 TOPS
KEENELAND
The beginning of October means opening weekend at Keeneland Race
Course and the final prestigious G1 events of the year prior to the
Breeders' Cup. Topping the three G1s offered at Keeneland this
weekend is the Shadwell Turf Mile-G1, an eight furlong event on
October 8 that promises to be a matchup for the ages. Four G1
winners and a slew of other graded stakes stars are among the field
of 10 entered, including Australian superstar filly Alinghi (AUST).
What makes her appearance in the $600,000 race so compelling is that
she'll be taking on the boys for the first time in this country,
although she has beaten them in a G1 event in Australia.
The $600,000 Shadwell Turf Mile-G1 is the richest race of the
Keeneland fall meet. Post time is at 5:45 pm on Saturday with
live coverage scheduled on NBC.

a lovely filly with loads of speed. She's improving with every run
and is one of the best fillies about at the moment... She's very
tough and doesn't look like she's had a race. She's as good a filly
as we've had for 10 years, I'd say."

Newmarket in Great Britain. She held good position from the start of
the seven furlong affair and switched out for a late challenge to
the leader. She swept to the front nearing the wire and dug in

3/5 over good turf, giving her two wins and a third from three
starts (including in two blacktype events).
"She really takes her racing well and nothing seems to bother
her," said trainer Richard Hannon. "She found all sorts of trouble
at Sandown (in the Star S.) and we will give her a bit of time and
might bring her back for the Fillies' Mile-G1 at the end of next
month. She will stay a mile no problem."

INTIDAB RETURNING
HOME TO SHADWELL
Impressive sophomore sire INTIDAB, whose first crop includes
Greater Good, one of the spring's leading Triple Crown contenders,
has returned to Shadwell Farm. The son of Phone Trick out of the Mr.
Prospector mare Alqwani will stand at Shadwell near Lexington,
Kentucky in 2006. He previously stood for Shadwell at Gallagher's
Stud near Ghent, New York.
With a limited first crop of just seven starters to date from
eight foals, INTIDAB has gotten off to a smashing success with three
stakes horses, a mind-boggling 43% from starters. But it is his son
Greater Good who has really put him on the map. Greater Good
captured the Kentucky Jockey Club S.-G2 and Kentucky Cup Juvenile
S.-G3 as a 2-year-old and won the Rebel S.-G3 and Southwest S. this
year while on the Triple Crown trail. In the Rebel-G3, he defeated

A Phenomenon S.-G2 at Saratoga, in which he earned a monster 120
Beyer Speed Figure. He also won the True North H.-G2 at Belmont Park

SHADWELL'S MUSTANFAR ENTERED IN WOODFORD RESERVE
ON DERBY DAY
MUSTANFAR, bred and owned by Shadwell Stable, is one of the main
contenders scheduled to run in the $400,000 Woodford Reserve Turf
Classic-G1, the race that directly precedes the Kentucky Derby-G1 at
Churchill Downs on Saturday. The 1 1/8 mile turf race has annually
become one of the most prestigious and anticipated grass races of

an easy five furlongs in 1:04 2/5 with the "dogs" up. Trainer Kiaran
McLaughlin was pleased with the work. He told the Daily Racing

will be faster at the nine furlongs of the Woodford compared to 11
furlongs at Gulfstream. He's got a tremendous kick, and we're
looking for him to really come running Saturday."
McLaughlin was referring to MUSTANFAR's last start, when the
4-year-old finished a hard-charging third, beaten just a
half-length, in the Gulfstream Breeders' Cup-G1. The son of
Unbridled's five victories include the Sycamore Breeders' Cup S.-G3
and Lexington S.-G3.

training and decide in the next few days."

MUSTAMEET WINS GROUP 3 GLADNESS AT
CURRAGH
SAHM's son MUSTAMEET
(01 c, o/o Hamasah, by Irish River (FR)) captured the Castlemartin
& La Louviere Studs Gladness S.-G3 at the Curragh in his first
start in nearly six months. He had cracked a hind cannon bone early
last year, then broke his maiden at Leopardstown in his only start
as a sophomore. He returned in the Group 3 Gladness and raced close
to the pace in the seven furlong stakes over heavy turf. He took
command more than a furlong from home and crossed the wire a length
the best while easing up.
Bred in Kentucky by Shadwell Farm LLC, MUSTAMEET also placed in
the Juddmonte Beresford S.-G2 at two. He is one of four stakes
winners for his young sire SAHM (who stands at Shadwell). MUSTAMEET,
who races in the colors of Hamdan al Maktoum, is from the same
family as 2001 Breeders' Cup Mile-G1 winner Val Royal (FR). Kevin
Prendergast is his conditioner.

STANLEY PARK TAKES SAN LUIS
REY-G2
Already a graded winner, STANLEY PARK (00 c, o/o Tricky
Bird, by Storm Bird) captured the San Luis Rey H.-G2 at Santa Anita
on Easter Sunday. The 5-year-old son of SWAIN had fractured his
right hind pastern bone in November 2003 and recently returned to
competition. In the G2 event, STANLEY PARK took his time near the
back of the pack before sweeping past the defending winner in the
final furlong.
STANLEY PARK was racing at the 1 1/2 mile distance of the San
Luis Rey for the first time and he stopped the clock in a swift 2:24
2/5. He won by one length.
Bred in Kentucky by Fred Seitz, STANLEY PARK is campaigned by
Jerome and Ann Moss. Trainer John Shirreffs said the San Luis Rey-G2
winner will be considered for the San Juan Capistrano Invitational
Handicap-G1 on April 16.

MUSTANFAR 3RD IN GULFSTREAM H.-G1
MUSTANFAR, a Shadwell homebred who won his seasonal debut three
weeks ago, closed furiously for a strong third-place finish in the
Gulfstream Park Breeders' Cup H.-G1. Unhurried at the back of the
11-horse field early in the 1 3/8 mile turf event at Gulfstream,
MUSTANFAR circled rivals while five wide on the final turn. He
rallied impressively in the stretch, flying past all but the first
two finishers who were separated by a nose. He missed the wire by
just a half length after breaking from the far outside (number 11)
post.
A multiple graded stakes winner, MUSTANFAR added the placing in
the G1 event to his growing resume. He captured the Sycamore
Breeders' Cup S.-G3 and Lexington S.-G3 last year. The 4-year-old
has now won five races and is under the tutelage of Kiaran P.
McLaughlin.

MUSTANFAR WINS, POINTS TO GULFSTREAM
H.-G1
Shadwell's homebred MUSTANFAR handily won his seasonal debut, a
$39,000 allowance at Gulfstream Park on February 10 going 1 1/8
miles on the turf. Now a 4-year-old, MUSTANFAR closed out his
sophomore campaign with a strong fifth in the Breeders' Cup Turf-G1
after multiple graded stakes wins during the year.
MUSTANFAR captured the Gulfstream allowance with an eye-catching
turn of foot. He was shuffled back entering the far turn and had to
angle wide before a hand ride propelled him to a 2 3/4 length win.
The son of Unbridled is being pointed to the Gulfstream Park
Breeders' Cup H.-G1 on March 6.

SHADWELL SALES GRADUATE
WINS EL ENCINO-G2
GIRL WARRIOR, a Shadwell sales graduate, captured the G2
El Encino S. at Santa Anita. The 4-year-old filly, who was bred in
Kentucky by Shadwell Farm, is by Elusive Quality out of the Marju
(IRE) mare Qhazeenah (GB). She was sold at the 2002 Keeneland
September yearling sale for $120,000 to Shawn Dugan, agent. Anthony
Speelman owns GIRL WARRIOR and Neil Drysdale is her trainer.
The G2-winning filly began her career on the grass in Europe, but
