ANIMATION MASTER (00 c, o/o Ly Dawg, by Lyphard) bested a field of 13 at Taipa in Macau on Christmas Eve. The 1100 meter, or approximately 5 1/2 furlong, race was appropriately named "The Santa Claus." The 6-year-old won by a head over good to firm going to get the distance in 1:05. With three known wins, ANIMATION MASTER is trained by Y.K. Lau. Bred in the U.S., he was originally named Itsallkarma.

MORIAH (02 f, o/o Thebesticouldbe, by Lomond) broke her maiden in resounding fashion at Remington Park. She contested the early pace and took command with authority well before reaching the half mile mark. She romped home seven lengths clear of her 10 rivals in the six furlong maiden. Bred in Oklahoma by Kevin Robert Teeman, the daughter of KAYRAWAN races as a homebred for Kevin and Robert Teeman. She is trained by Joe S. Offolter.

Sent to the post as the favorite, the sophomore was in good position throughout, rallied coming off the turn, and drove home a length victor. He got the five furlongs in a smoking :57 4/5. RACIN EXPRESS (03 c, o/o Highly Regarded, by Prized) captured a maiden race against older horses at Retama Park. Going seven furlongs on the dirt as the favorite, the sophomore "saved ground, rallied, long drive, gamely, driving," according to the Equibase chart. His margin of victory was three-quarters of a length. Bred in Texas by Inside Move Inc., RACIN EXPRESS campaigns in the colors of Crystal Lynn Evans. He is trained by Darlene Lind.

The favorite in a five furlong turf event at Retama Park, WOLFE BE SALTY (03 c, o/o Miss Salty Dawg, by Salt Dome) did not disappoint. The 3-year-old was bumped at the start and initially got away 10th in the 12-horse field. He began steadily advancing until he was just off the pace, then closed furiously for a 1 3/4 length win. THREE STEPS AHEAD (01 c, o/o Sesame, by El Gran Senor) won twice in two weeks at Churchill Downs last fall and returned to the winner's circle yet again at the venerable Louisville track. Going 1 1/16 miles on the dirt, the 5-year-old pressed the frontrunner while four wide. He took over the lead on the far turn and drew clear for a 1 1/2 length triumph. It was his sixth lifetime win. KAYRAQUE (98 c, o/o Queluz, by Saratoga Six) garnered the eighth win of his career when he captured a one mile and 70 yard event at Lincoln State Fair. The veteran son of KAYRAWAN broke slowest of all in the nine-horse field and trailed in the early stages, settling nicely. He moved up four wide to drive down the lane, passing all competitors for a one length triumph. Bred in Kentucky by John A. Bell III and B. B. Williams, KAYRAQUE races for Rita M. Hemmer. The former 1998 Keeneland November sale weanling is trained by Terrell M. Hemmer.

CAT RUNNER (02 f, o/o Sati Cat, by Mountain Cat) notched her third victory of the year by winning a six furlong sprint at Mountaineer Park. She tracked the early pace while in the fifth position, then angled out and drove past the field for a two length triumph. The 4-year-old daughter of Shadwell stallion KAYRAWAIN was bred in Kentucky by Dr. E. W. Thomas. CAT RUNNER runs in the colors of R and G Stables LLC and is trained by Michael Love.

He was bumped just after the break and bobbled, then recovered and pressured the frontrunner by staying just a half-length behind. The 4-year-old was well in front by the stretch and coasted home a 4 1/4 length victor. He got the seven furlongs over a sloppy track in a stellar 1:23 4/5. The 4-year-old filly reared at the start of the six furlong maiden and gradually moved up through her competitors while racing on the rail. He stalked the pace, swept to the front coming into the stretch, and opened up by three lengths. The veteran 8-year-old stakes horse dug in late to hold off a determined rival and won by three-quarters of a length. The second of two winners of the day for Shadwell sire KAYRAWAN, CAT RUNNER (02 f, o/o Sati Cat, by Mountain Cat) won a one mile race at Turfway Park. She had broken her maiden just two weeks ago at 6 1/2 furlongs. In her second victory, she contested the pace along the inside and put her main rival away coming into the stretch. She drew clear to win by 3 1/2 lengths. The rest of the field never threatened the top two in the snowy going. Bred in Kentucky by Dr. E. W. Thomas, CAT RUNNER is a Kenneth L. and Sarah K. Ramsey colorbearer and is trained by Dale L. Romans.

A stakes horse at three, now 8-year-old Action Request (98 c, o/o Lailee, by Caveat) captured a seven furlong affair at Laurel Park by a resounding four lengths. The veteran rated patiently on the rail and waited until a seam opened up in mid stretch. He burst through the hole and quickly drew clear, running farther away from the field with every stride. Bred in Kentucky by Mrs. Arturo Peralta Ramos, ACTION REQUEST races for Rob Ry Farm and Jayne Marie Slysz. It was his eighth lifetime win.

CAT RUNNER (02 f, o/o Sati Cat, by Mountain Cat) went to post as the heavy favorite in a 6 1/2 furlong maiden at Turfway Park. She ran like a favorite should and came home two lengths the best. In a facile performance, the bay filly rated just off the leaders, challenged at the quarter pole, and drew clear in the stretch. Bred by Dr. E. W.
