Mr Charlypotatoes (04 c, o/o Musical Precedent, by Seattle Song), second in the Rattlesnake S. just a little over two weeks ago, broke his maiden in a big way at Turf Paradise. He broke well in the one mile maiden on the main track and fought for the lead early. The Equibase chart said the son of DAYJUR "took charge on his own courage and widened the advantage without need of urging, then was well within himself while increasing the advantage through the stretch." He won by 12 3/4 lengths as the prohibitive favorite. Bred by Bruce Hutson, Lisa Turney, and Tim Turney in Kentucky, MR CHARLYPOTATOES races for Golden State Stable. He is trained by Tony Klenakis.

Just 15 days after his last win, NATIONAL DAY (04 c, o/o Celtic Verse, by Cahill Road) won again at Turfway Park. He raced close up on the inside in the six furlong contest over the all-weather track. The son of DAYJUR mounted his challenge for the lead in upper stretch and began driving clear. His final margin of victory was 2 3/4 lengths. Bred in Kentucky by Marianne Stribling, NATIONAL DAY is owned by James Wilhite and is trained by Tiffany Ericson.

R P'S COMMAND (04 c, o/o Imma Beezee, by Incinderator) recovered exceptionally well from early trouble to register a 2 3/4 length victory in a maiden race at Turfway Park. The post-time favorite stumbled at the start and ducked in while trying to recover his composure. He immediately began fighting for the lead and had daylight on the field more than two furlongs from home. He steadily increased his advantage to break his maiden at a mile by nearly three lengths. Bred in Kentucky, R P'S COMMAND races as a homebred for Todd Croissant. He is trained by Bill Shelley.

Mr Charlypotatoes (04 c, o/o Musical Precedent, by Seattle Song), the lone out-of-towner at Turf Paradise to compete in the $45,000 Rattlesnake S., placed second in the blacktype event. Going one mile on the dirt, the son of DAYJUR was three wide and midpack early. He moved up four wide to make his bid and although he didn't catch the winner on the day, he was a strong second. Bred by Bruce Hutson, Lisa Turney, and Tim Turney in Kentucky, MR CHARLYPOTATOES is a Golden State Stable colorbearer. The former Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October yearling is trained by Tony Klenakis.

A KNEW BEGINNING (03 c, o/o Klassy Kris, by Kris S.) was DAYJUR's second winner of the day and third of the last 24 hours. He captured a six furlong sprint at Beulah Park. As is his usual style, he rated behind the leaders early before making his bid just before the half-mile mark. He split horses and steadily drew clear to win by 2 1/4 lengths. Bred in Ohio by Martha Parsons, A KNEW BEGINNING races for C I Stables. The 4-year-old, a former Ohio October yearling, is trained by Lori Grace.

RED HAWK DOWN (03 c, o/o Secured Account, by Private Key) became his sire's first winner of the new year with a nice maiden win at Laurel Park. Toting 124 pounds while going seven furlongs, he settled in near the rail behind the pacesetters. He swung three wide exiting the turn to pounce on the leaders. The son of DAYJUR drove on by for a one length triumph. Bred in Maryland by Ned Williams, RED HAWK DOWN is both owned and trained by Jeffery S. Allen.
